![On referring to the rate of Infant Mortality through- out the. County, as set out in the Annual Re]:)ort of the County Medical Oflicer for the year 1909, I hud that East Retford Avith a Death Rate of 84 per thousand births in that year was the lowest on the list of the 15 Boroughs and Urban Districts, with the exception of West Bridgford, wdiich, owdng to its being a purely residential district, has an exceptionally low Infantile Death Rate. Medical Inspection of School Children. xVs Schools Medical Oflicer it is ray duty to report to the Local Education Authority on tlie Medical Inspection for the year so that it is not necessary for me to deal further Avith tlie matter in this report. infectious Diseases. I am glad to be able to state that the Borougli has been free from any outbreak of Epidemic Disease during the year. Notifiable Infectious Diseases. There Avere on]^ 26 cases during the year, notified, as against 43 in 1909. This is a distinct decrease both on last year and 1908. The cases were disti ibuted amongst the Amrious parishes as follow ' East Retford ... 9 North Retford ... 5 Ordsall ... ... 12 West Retford ... Nil Scarlet Fever. There AA^ere 10 cases of Scarlet Fever all of a mild type, and all the patients recovered. Four of the cases were ti’eated at the Isolation Hospital. Diphtheria and Membranous Croup. There Avas only 1 case of Diphtheria. Typhoid Fever. There Avas only 1 case of Typhoid Fe\er. NON-NOTIFIABLE DISEASES. Measles. The Borough has been singularly free from this troublesome disorder.
