A wonderfull and ftraunge Newes which happened in the Countyes of Suffolke and Effex, the Firft of February, being Fryday, where it rayned Wheat, the Space of vi or vii Miles Compafs, &c. Imprinted at London, for Edward White,{(in fourteen Leaves, black Letter) Oétavo, 1583 The Author fays not that he faw this wonderful Shower himfelf, but reports from many Witneffes (four of whofe Names are fubfcribed at the End) that about Jp/wich, Storknayland, and Hadley, in Suffolk efpecial- ly, fuch Grain did fall, in a drizzling Snow, at the Time and tothe Compafs aforefaid ; but that it was of a fofter Subftance, greener Colour without, whiter within, and of a mealier Tafte than common Wheat. 9. A breefe Difcourfe, declaring and ap- proving the neceflarie and inviolable Mainte- nance of The laudable Cuftoms of London, Name- the Goods of Hufbands among their: Wives and Children is provided ; with an Anfwer to Ob- jections, &c, Printed by Henry Middleton, &c. Maonardo: The Tritameron of Love ; where in certain pleafant Conceits, uttered by divers worthy Perfonages, are perfectly dyfcourfed ;.and three doubtfull Queftions of Love moft pithely and pleafauntly difcufled ; fhewing, to the W/e, how to ufe Love; and to the Fond, how to ef- chew Luff ; and yielding to all both Pleafure and Profit. This Tra is dedicated to Phillip, Ear] of Arundell, ‘The Author was a noted Town- writer of his Time ; and publifhed many Pamphlets of Entertainment in Profe and Verfe. He was reputed Mafter of a clear and elegant Style, and numbered among the Improvers of our Language in thofe Days. He could fhew a Variety of Reading upon any Subject, by his Allufions, Comparifons, &c. which he had ready upon all Occafions ; but at laft fell into irregular Courfes of Life, which brought him to Want, Mifery, and Repentance. He died of a Surfeit upon pickled Herrings and Rheni/b Wine, on the Third of Septem. in the Year 1592. Many of his Pamphlets were reprinted after his Death, to the good Profit of their Publifhers, 11. A Pack of Spani/b Lyes fent abroad in the World ; firft printed in Spain, in the Spanifh Tongue, and tranflated out of the Original ; now ripped up, unfolded, and, by juft Exami- nation, condemned ; as conteyning falfe, corrupt, and deteftable Wares, worthy to be damned and burned.
