![Clinically scarlet fever has been a mild disease and has caused no deaths in the 578 cases notified in the pc.st five years. Nineteen cases were treated at home during 1946. There is no objection to the ordinary mild case of scarlet fever being nursed at home provided a bedroom is available for isolation and the mother can be relied upon to give the case adequate attention. M [ 05 ! i——-i Cases transferred to.other districts; ]l 4 . • • - ' j h. ; Among the 31 new cases of pulmonary tuberculosis notified were 11 colliery workers, 4 housewives, 2 discharged soldiers, 2 clerka, 2 -steelworkers and 2 conductresses. Six of the 13 non-pulmonary cases were children with tuberculous glands in the neck. There were 16 deaths from tuberculosis, 13 of which were of the pulmonary type.
