    Lindsey ^ Hohart's Patent for Consuming Smoke, Ireland, domynion of Wales, and towne of Barwicke, for the terme of four- teene yeares, according to the lawes and statutes of this realrae. KNOWE YEE, that wee, graciously favouring and willing to encourage our subiectf in all lawfull and vsefull invencons, and tendring the ease and benefitt that may redound to our realmes and people thereby, and intending 5 alsoe to reward and recompence the industrie and charge of the peticoners in the inventinge of the saide way above menconed by appropriating to them for the saide terme of yeares the benefitt of theire saide Invencon; and in consideracon of the yearely rente or some in theise psentf reserved and paye- able to vs, our heires and successors, of our especiall grace, certeyne knowledge 10 and meere mocon, have gyven and graunted, and by theise psentf for vs, our heires and successors, doe give and graunte vnto the saide Roberte Lindsey and lohn Hobarte, theire executors, administrators, and assignes, full and sole licence, libertie, power, priviledge and authoritie, that they, the saide Roberte Lindsey and lohn Hobarte, theire executors, administrators, and assignes, and 15 none other, by themselves, or by theire' deputies, servauntf, workemen, or agentf, at all tymes and from tyme to tyme hereafter, for and during the terme of yeares hereafter in theise jpsentf graunted, shall and may lawfully vse, exer¬ cise and putt in vre the saide Invencon hereby before menconed, by them, the saide Roberte Lindsey and lohn Hobarte devised as aforesaide, within our saide 20 realmes of England and Ireland, domynion of Wales, and towne of Barwicke, for theire benefitt and advantage ; and to the end the saide Roberte Lindsey, Esquier, and lohn Hobart, theire executors, administrators, and assignes, may have and enioye the full and sole benefitt and comoditie of the saide Invencon by them soe devised and found out as aforesaide, our will and pleasure is, and 25 wee doe by theise psentf, for vs, our heires and successors, require, charge, and comaund all and every person and persons, of what estate, degree, or condicon soever hee or any of them bee, that they nor any of them, other then the saide Roberte Lindsey and lohn Hobarte, theire executors, administrators, or assignes, or theire deputies, servauntf, or agentf, or some of them, shall 30 not, during the saide terme hereafter in theise ^sentf graunted, directly or .indirectly vse or practice the saide Invencon herein-before menconed by them, the saide Roberte Lindsey and lohn Hobarte, soe invented or devised as aforesaide, nor shall counterfeite, ymitate, or resemble the same, nor shall make any addicon therevnto or substraccon from the same, whereby to ptend them- 35 themselves inventors or devisors of them, without the licence, consente, or agreement of the saide Roberte Lindsey and lohn Hobarte, theire executors, administrators, and assignes, in writeinge vnder theire handf and scales
