    Provisional Manning's Improvements in the Manufacture or Production of Manure. matter may be primarily treated in other ways or by other chemical agents, the essential object of the present Invention being the application or employment of sewerage matter in combination with the dry wastes of towns in the manu¬ facture of manures. The alum sludge, or its chemical equivalents, is or may be combined with lime or chloroform, refuse charcoal, and other matters. SPECIFICATION in pursuance of the conditions of the Letters Patent, filed by the said James Alexander Manning in the Great Seal Patent Office on the 31st July 1858. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PEESENTS SHALL COME, I, James Alexander Manning, of the Inner Temple, in the County of Middlesex, 10 Esquire, send greeting. WHEEEAS Her most Excellent Majesty Queen Victoria, by Her Letters Patent, bearing date the First day of February, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight, in the twenty-first year of Her reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, 15 the said James Alexander Manning, Her special license that I, the said James Alexander Manning, my executors, administrators, and assigns, or such others as I, the said James Alexander Manning, my executors, administrators, or assigns, should at any time agree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times thereafter during the term therein expressed, should 20 and lawfully might make, use, exercise, and vend, within the United King¬ dom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ Improvements in the Manufacture or Production op Manure,” upon the condition (amongst others) that I, the said James Alexander Manning, by an instrument in writing under my hand and seal, 25 should particularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to be filed in the Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent. NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said James Alexander Manning, do hereby 30 declare the nature of my said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement, that is to say : — My said Invention relates to the manufacture or production of manures or fertilising agents from sewerage liquors in combination with the dry wastes 35 of towns.
