    *Preen’ is a fine antiseptic powder, and is specially made for the soft coats of cats. It should be sprinkled into the coat, and the cat should then be gently rubbed to ensure an even distribution of the powder. Finally the powder should be brushed out of the coat. *Preen’ penetrates deep into the thickest fur, keeps it healthy and firm to the roots. This pre- vents your cat from swallowing loose fur, which tends to form an indigestible ‘ hairball’ in the stomach and may lead to serious illness. If the coat is matted, ease the knots with your fingers. Severe cases should first be treated by using a knitting needle or a steel comb, and it may even be necessary to cut away the knots with scissors. Since cats have very sensitive skins and are easily hurt, they should be gently handled during treat- ment. Never wash a cat unless it is absolutely neces- sary. When bathing a cat, be sure to dry thoroughly afterwards.
