Ladies and Gentlemen, I have the honour to submit the twenty-fifth Annual Report dealing with the health and sanitary conditions of the Borough of Durban for the year ending 30th June, 1926. POPULATION. The following table shews the estimated population for the year 1925/26, the previous Census of the Borough being shown in comparison: Government. One thousand and twenty-five European births were registered, giving a birth-rate per 1,000 population of 19.63, as against 19.9 the previous year. The corresponding figure for England and Wales was 18.3. DEATHS. A total of 1,097 deaths of Borough residents occurred during the year—460 Europeans; 59 Coloured; 275 Natives and 303 Asiatics.
