    Nature, and by that means other Medicines of that Clafs might with equal propriety be term’d Specifics in fother DIfeafes, all which I do not deny$ for I have before allow’d the exigence of many Specifics, and do not mean to infer there are no other Medicines in Nature that can how¬ ever prepar’d, cure the Stone; I only lament they are not fought after more. I have before obferv’d that the French are much lefs fubjedt to the Stone than the Englifii,^ but from the Numbers that are cut for it in the Hofpitals of Paris, it may be imagin’d the ine¬ quality is not fo great, ’till it’s remark’d that in and about that Metropolis it’s fuppos’d they are more affli&ed than in the Country, owing as is faid to a concreting Quality in the Water of the Seine; add to that, the Surgeons there are re¬ puted more dext’rous and fuccefsful in the Ope¬ ration of Lithotomy than others, which induces People to undergo it more willingly^ and at the fame time they feldom make ufe of a Medicine as a Remedy in fuch Cafes.
