(4 by 3 in.), written in gothic characters, Gregorian notation, staves in red, initial letters painted in gold and ‘colours, old purple velvet binding, ornamental brass clasps c. 1600 93 LipeR AMICORUM, EARLY XVIItH Century (37 by 6 2n.), con- taining about 50 paintings in colours (some heightened in gold), 13 of the more finished and elaborate being on vellum: 15 are of an historical and mythological character ; Views of Rome, Florence, Naples, Milan, dc., and 30 (one double) showing Costumes of the period ; in addition there are nume- rous emblazoned coats-of-arms with autograph signatures attached, in many cases a note being added expressing Friendship or goodwill to the owner of the album, original calf, g. e.
