XIII. An interesting collection, containing several different works on History and Theology. Inserted is a leaf from Lucan, Pharsalia, lib. 6, with diagram Beda. Historia, etc., manuscript on vellum, 46 Il., consisting of interesting fragments in various hands of manuscripts of historical interest, vellum sm. 4to. Sac. XIV—-Xv. orum, etc., manuscript on vellum (201 Il.), long lines, 28 to a page, painted and gilt initials, headings of books in red, early binding of leather over oak boards stamped in blind, clasps wanting. (On the last“leaf is a date 1453 in a different hand) ITALIAN S2sc. XV. Berners (Juliana) The Gentleman’s Academie, or the Booke of St. Albans, containing three bookes: the first of Hawking ; the second of Hunting; and the last of Armorie, reduced into a better method by G(ervase) M(arkham). Manuscript on fine vellum, sm. gothic letter, double columns, 52 lines to a page (395 Il.) [Spain, late 13th Century), numerous finely illuminated initial letters, many with grotesque figures, and others with delicate pen-orna- mentation in red and blue. The headings in red, rubricated. The two final leaves of the table are wanting, and a leaf, probably blank, appears to be missing between the end of the Old Testament and the first prologue to St. Matthew. Stamped leather binding over oak boards with central panel of cruciform design and border of five line fillets (wants clasps) [circa 1500] 4to.
