![or clots should be removed, if possible; and the haemorrhage should be restrained by cold applications, cold enemata, and astringents, and by giving ergot of rye, turpentine, and Indian hemp. When the hfemorrhage is copious and severe, ergot of rye and turpentine may be thus given :— R Ext. Ergot. Liquid., 5j. Aq. Cinnani. ad oiij- M. Capt. tertiani partem omni hora. After this has been taken, turpentine may be administered as follows :— R 01. Terebinth., 5j. Mucilag,, (|.s. Sympi, 5j- Aquam ad ovj. ]\[, Sumat 6tam partem ter die. ]}ut if the hremorrhage be more chronic in character, the following mixtures may be given :— R Ext. Ergot. Li(|uid., 5ij. 01. Terebinth., 5j. ]\Iucilag., q.s. Aquam ad o^iij. M. Capt. 8vam partem ter die. Or the following :— R, Ext. Ergot. Liquid., 5ij' Trte. Cannab. Indie, 3iss. Aq. Cinnam. ad oviij. M. Capt. 8vam partem ter die. A vaginal injection of half a pint of infusion of matico may he used in bad cases, or the uterine cavity may be swabbed with liq. ferri perchlorid., by means of a sponge of the size of a walnut, Avbich has been firmly attached to a piece of whalebone.
