Thomas Mantell, Fellow of Corpus Chrifti College, Cambridge; B.A. 1777; M.A. 1779; B.D. 1788; purchafed the Great Tithes of Frenfham, Elfted and Sele; Redtor of Frenfham, Surrey; died in 1804, aged 49. Will dated 25th December, 1804, proved i8th February, 1805 (i 14 Nelfon, P.C.C.). He married Lady Bankes {Gent. Mag.^ 1804, p. 1252)—in his will he terms his wife “Sarah Waller Mantell”—and had iflue: i. Marianne-Frances Mantell, married to John Mayo, B.M. See page 339; ii. Thomas Mantell, perhaps Capt. T. R. C. Mantell, of the Madras Army, who died i6th November, 1831. See ante^ page 380. iii. Sarah-Elizabeth Mantell, who died in 1812 {Gent. Mag.). iv. Edward-Reginald Mantell, born 1798; of Emmanuel College, Cam- bridge, B.A. 1821; M.A. 1824; V. of Louth and Tetney, co. Line., 1831-59; Preb. of Louth in Lincoln Cathedral, 1845; R. of Gretford with Wilfthorpe, 1859; Dean of Stamford, 1863; R. D. ofNefs, 1864; died 29th May, 1884, at Park- bury, St. Albans; buried in Stamford cemetery, 3rd June following,/./>., the laft of his family. He married at Dartford, Kent, 14th July, 1828, Sufanna, daughter of Ifaac Minet, of Baldwyns, near Dartford, H.S. of Kent 1827; born 29th Odlober, baptifed 29th November, 1805, P^^cr le Poer, London; died 18th April, buried 25th April, 1882, in Stamford cemetery. Arms of Mantell. Argent, a crofs between four martlets fable (Hafted’s Kent^ vol. iii, page 97, note). By the Monks’ Horton family the crofs is borne “engrailed,” with whom, however, the writer has been unable to connedl the Mantells of Merlham. MAYNARD. Jacob Maynard, who refided in the parilh of St. John’s, Devizes, was admitted a Free Brother of the fenior branch of the Merchant Guild, 6th November, 1693, elected Warden, 5th November, 1694, and Mafter, 6th November, 1704, and was buried there 30th December, 1707. He twice married,/^, Elizabeth . . . buried 24th January, 1689-90; and Jecondly^ 27th March, 1690, Sufanna Butcher, buried as widow, 30th January, 1719-20. Her will, as Sufanna Minor, of Devizes, widow, 26th July, 1711, proved 14th January, 1720, mentions her fons [ftepfons] Charles and Jacob Minor, and her daughter Elizabeth, executrix and refiduary legatee, wife of William Strawbridge, of Devizes (Sarum Cons.
