![proved 15th February, 1650-1, by her coufin, John Arnell (20 Grey, P.CC.), defires to be buried by the body of Mr. Elton, her laft hulband, in the parilh church of Ludlow, and mentions her filler Elton, coufin John Elton of the Nether Hall, filler Bucknell’s daughter, living at home and yet unmarried, and the daughter that is married. * The bequell of a trunk with K and A upon it fuggells that her name had previoufly been Arnell. Other relatives are mentioned. She feems to be the widow of William Elton, baptifed 2nd Sept., 1593, who is llated to have ellablilhed clothing mills at Ludlow. P. 57, 1. 8. Cicele-Maude Prower was married, 25th April, 1907, at the Britilh Embafly Chapel, Rue D’AguelTeau, Paris, to William-Edmund Middleton, Lieut. R.N., fon of Lieut.-General Sir Frederick Middleton, C.B., K.C.M.G. P. 85, 1. 15. In Chancery Proceedings, before 1714 (Hamilton 232/56), Mayo V. Harbin, 1696, there is the anfwer of Henry Harbin and Edward Harper to Hugh Mayo, relating to Ihipping matters. 1. 35. William Mayo, of Swalcleiff, clerk, and Mary Unite, were married by licence at Fenny Compton, co. Warwick, 20th November, 1689. P. 86, 1. 17. Rev. Mathias Mayo and Mrs. Mary Redman were married by licence at Soulbury, Bucks, 25th September, 1730. P. 87, 1. I. In the regifter of Mickleton, Gloucellerlhire, is the following entry: “Mr. William Mayo, of Brigton, co. North Hants, and Mrs. Ann Townfend were married 23rd April, 1724.” P. 88, 1. 23. A Hugh May is mentioned in Bqfcobel (fee edit, of 1822, pp. 25, 34-36) as having been with Charles II. after his defeat at Worcefter, 3rd September, 1651. Later he was eftablilhed as an architedl. See Evelyn’s Diary. He was feventh fon of John May, of Rawmere, Suflex. P. 90, 1. 13. John Topp and Dorothy Mayo were married at Milton Abbas, Dorfet, 29th September, 1661. The date would fuit the daughter ofWilliam Mayo of this name. P. 94, 1. 19 of footnote. In Chancery Proceedings before 1714 (Mitford 235/6), Moore v. Strangways and Mayo, i8th June, 1673, defendant, Clement Mayo, of Merfton Magna, Somerfet, gent., and others (who were refidents of Child Okeford, Dorfet) had been granted tenements in the manor of Wrantage, Somerfet, and in North Curry, by the Dean and Chapter of Wells. Mayo dates his anfwer at Sherborne, Dorfet. P. 96, 1. 25. By feoffment, 26th March, ii Jas. I. [1613], William Smeger- gill, of the Canons’ Clofe, Wilts, grants to Thomas Mayoe, of New Sarum, and Elizabeth, his wife, their heirs and affigns, two meffuages with gardens in occupa- tion of faid Thomas Mayoe, in the ftreet called Cole Corner, between the meffuages in tenure of Robert Rey, on the north, and of Elioner Daffe, wid., on the fouth, lately acquired of John Webbe, Knt.
