The variation of the fpelling of the name between Mayo, Mayer and Mayall is noticeable. The fame confufion occurs at the prefent day, when the name is fpoken or written by perfons but little acquainted with it. The writer always feels bound to fpell his name, when mentioning it to a llranger. P. 205, footnote. This tomb was again re-built in 1907, and the letters cleaned, and where neceflary re-cut.
