![KLIXIK OF VITKIOL.—Very usefLil in diar- rlia?a, chronic coughs, and night sweatings. (Quinine will not dissolve in water without the addition of a few drops. (See l\ecei])ts No. 3 and 9.) Dose: 5 to 20 drops in a wine-glass of water SPIRITS OF HARTSHORN (Lhpiid Ammo- nia).—When aj^plied to the nostrils it revives per- sons in fainting-fits. Given internally it acts as a stimulant. (See Recei[)t No. 8.) Dose : 5 to 20 drops in a wine-glass of water. BROMIDE OF POTASSILAM.—Acts as a seda- tive to nervous system, is useful in sleeplessness and in epilepsy. (See Receipt No. 4.) Dose : 10 to 20 grains. CHLORIC ETHER.-Is a useful sedative. If 20 or 30 drops are sprinkled on a handkerchief and applied to the mouth and nose, it immediately re- lieves pain. (See also Receipts No. 3 and 8.) Dose: 10 to 30 drops in w^ater. POWDER JALAP.—Is a useful purgative : 20 grains mixed with 10 grains of cream of tartar is an excellent medicine for droj)sy. - Dose: 10 to 30 grains. CAMPHOR.—2 ounces of, to half a pint of -whisky or brandy, makes spirits of camphor ; very useful in diarrhoea and cholera.
