    8. Prefixed letters. 1 The five letters «7|' ^ q’ 3T 0( frequently occur before the real, radical initials of other words, but are seldom pronounced, except in similar cases as § 7. 6. £fj occurs before 3' W J S' <S' tf ®' 3’ »J* ■q* ; Sj before the gutturals and labials with exception of the aspiratae; q* before *T|’ *71’, the palatals, dentals and palatal sibilants with the same exception as under S, then (3^ 3' before the gutturals, palatals, dentals and palatal sibilants, excepted the surds; before the as¬ piratae and sonants of the five classes. In C.T., to pro¬ nounce them in any case, is considered vulgar. 2. The ambiguity which would arise in case of the prefix standing before one of the 10 final consonants, as single radical, the vowel being the unwritten a, — e. g. in the syllable which, if ^ is radical, has to be pronounced dag, if prefixed ga, — is avoided by adding an R’ in the latter case: thus, W- Other examples are: z^gad (ga) and 2^' da; q$f has (ba, 6a.) and q^JR^’ sa; mad (ma) and da; RZ7](^’ ga. This O) is added, though the radical be not one of the mentioned letters; as, ka. 3. ^ as a prefix and q* as first radical annul each other, so that only the following sound is heard, as will be seen in the compound produces inW.T some irregularities, which cannot all he specified here (see the diction . The custom of C.T., according to which the is entirely neglected is in this instance easier to be followed.
