    The wards have recently undergone a thorough survejy and they were found to afford ample provision for 240 males, and 255 females. On December 31, 1805, the number of male inmates was 229, and of females 245, so that there were only vacancies for 11 of the former, and 10 of the latter. As, however, the patients chargeable to the city of Chester will shortly be removed, there may perhaps be sufficient accommodation to last during the present year. Should, however, the admissions approach in number to those of 1864 and 1865, tlie Asvlum will be crowded before the end of December next. This will point out the urgent necessity for providing increased accommodation for county cases at as early a date as possible. EMPLOYMENT AND EECREATION. The employment, as well as the recreation, of tlie patients have been continued in the same satisfactory manner as alluded to in former reports, and therefore require no further mention here. CONCLUSION. As this is the last Report I shall have to make of the condition of this Asylum, with which I have been connected for nearly 14 years, I take this opportunity of returning my grateful acknowledgments for the many acts of kindness shown me by the Committee of Visiting Justices, and of the confidence which they have reposed in me throughout my tenure of office. I beg, also, to thank the various officers, with whom I have been associated, for their cordial co-operation in the management of the Institution. I have the honour to remain.
