![ILLUSTRATIVE DOCUMENTS. sonc aldermen, Anthony Iveson,' Robert Burland- James *roste,« chaplains.—Assembled in the hospitall howse the day ancl yeare abovesaid, when and wher was opned to thes pre- sentes, by the mouthe of Mr. Recorder, that he, Mr Roberte Askwithe alderman, and Mr. Belt/ haith purchased to them and thcir heires, to the use of the maior and commonaltie of tlns cytie of Yorke, the howse, guyld or fraternitie of Corpus Uiristi, wthout Micklegate barre, in the suburbes of the cytie of Yorke, wth all landes [and] tenementes to the same guild belongmge in the said cytie of Yorke, and suburbes of the same cytie, and in Naborne/ Stamforth-brigges and Buttercrame in the countye of Yorke, of William Marshe/ of London, esquier, and Walter Plumer, cytizen and marchant-tayler, of London aforesaid, as by dede indented therof maid more plainlie appeareth; wch dede was nowe red oppenlie before thes pre- sentes, and that their meaninge was, notwthstandinge, that the said landes and tenementes should still be ymployed to the mayntenaunce and relief of the poore/ 1604. Inq. p. m. 5th December, 1605, William Trew, his son and heir, being then aged 47 years and more. Lady Jane Trew, the widow of alderman Trew was buned near her husband, 6th October, 1609. ' * Ealph Eichardson, mercbant, chamberlain in 3574, sheriff in 1577-8 governor of the Merchants' Company 1584-1586, and lord mayor in 1587 was buned at St. Martin's, Micklegate, lOth March, 1597-8. He married, first at the above church, m 1572, Emma, widow of Thomas Newton, and daughter of Laurence Eobinson, of Overton; secondly, Margaret, daughter of Thomas Appleyard, senior, alderman of Tork. See p. 319, postea. p On 25th September, 1583, the Council agreed that Mr. Eecordar, Mr. Asquith, Mr. Eobinson, aldermen, and Mr. Belt, wth th'attorneys for possession, shall go on Thursday next to Naburne, and take possession of the landes there, and in Stamforth-bridge and Buttercrame, belouging to St. Thomas Hospitall, and parcell of the late Guild .of Corpus Christi, according to a deed indented thereof maid by William Marshe, of London, esquier, and Walter Plummer, cyttizen and merchant-tayler, of London, to the said Mr. Eecorder and Mr. Eobert Asquith and Leonard Belt, wth a lettre of attorney in the same deede (York Corp.
