![CONVEYANCE TO NEW FEOFFEES BY WILLIAM HILDYARD, ESQ., SOLE SURVIVING FEOFFEE, OF THE LANDS, ETC, BELONGING TO THE LATE GUILD OF CORPUS CHRISTI. [Erom the original Indenture in the Guildhall.] This Indenture made the xxvijth daie of Julye, in the one and fortie yeare of the reigne of our sovereigne ladie Elizabeth, by the grace of God quene of Englande, Fraunce and Irelande, defender of the faith, etc, betwene William Hildyarde/ esquier, recorder of the cittie of York, on th'one partie,, and Christofer Consett/ nowe lord maior of the cittie of Yorke., Henrie Hall/ alderman, Laurence Waide7' and William Brearey/ nowe she- 6 William Hildyard, esquire, a younger son of Martin Hildyard, esq., of Winstead, by Emma, daughter of Sir Bobert Budstone, of London, was elected recorder 8th January, 1581-2, and M.P. in October, 1586. He married Anne, daughter of William Howe, esq., of London, and was buried at St. MichaePs-le- Belfrey, 20th August, 1608, as Mr. Hilliard, the recorder. He was never knighted, as erroneously stated by Drake (Eborac., 368). J Christopher Consitt, merchant and apothecary, was free in 1571, and chamberlain in 1578. On 21st September, 1582, being then inhabitinge wth his familie at Sutton-under-Whitstonclif, in the countie of Yorke, he was chosen one of the sheriffes, and after he was so chosen did make his repaire and came to this cittie (Corp. Min., xxviii., 64 b). In 1599 and,1609 he occupied the civic chair, and was governor of the Merchants' Company in 1604. Shortly after- wards he removed to Eiccall, where he did cause a new pullpitt to be maid and sett up in the parish chnrch, and also one new chest, wth three locks and kees unto yt, for the saffe keepinge of the Eegester booke and other evedences belonginge unto the aforesaid parish, of his owne costes and charges (Par Reg.) In his will, dated 20th September, 1615 [Pro. 21st December seqi alderman Consitt desires to be buried by my wief in Eickall quire (Reg Test' xxxiii., 720). His grandson, George Consett, son of Thomas Consett, of Eiccall'' gent., was apprenticed to Thomas Chappell, tailor, York, in 1624. e Henry Hall, merchant, fifth son of William Hall, of Lenthorpe near Swillmgton, by Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Thomas Crosswaite, of'Bow- thorpe, free m 1575, chamberlain in 1581, sheriff in 1586-7, governor of the Merchants' Company 1592-1594, M.P. in 1601, and lord mayor in 1600 and 1610, was buned at All Saints, Pavement, 12th April, 1620, probably atthe queare dore where my late wife was buried under the greate blew stone Mr Hall married, first, Alice, daughter of James Birkbie, alderman of York- secondly, at St. Saviour's, 2nd September, 1599, Mary, daughter of alderman Wilham Beckwith (see p. 215, antea), and widow of Thomas Smithson and of Leonard Belt (see p. 319, postea). She died in 1622. _ * Lawrence Waide, merchant, the son, it is probable, of Henry Waide of King's Cross, near Hahfax, was free in 1587, chamberlain in 1592, and sheriff in 1598-9. He died m September, 1607, and was buried at St. Martin's Mickle- gate, leavmg a widow Sarah, and a son and heir, Henry Waide, then about 14 years old. J William Brearey, merchant, son of Walter Brearey, of Leeds (who was bunedat St. John's, Micklegate, 20th December, 1602, aged about 100 vears1) by the sister of Eobert Brooke, alderman of York (see p. 311, antea) was admitted to his freedom in 1590.
