Ragnell,0 advocatus curiaj Ebor. * Eichard Arnall, sub-dean and canon of Tork, died 9th June, 1441, and was buried in the Minster. ' Eobert de Tarm, rnercer, was free in 1389, charnberlain in 1403, sheriff in 1417-8, and master of the Merchants' Company in 1431. Not long afterwards he experienced a reverse of fortune. In 1444 he was admitted into the Merchants' almous, by th'assent of the sA felyship, and allowed a pension of 9d. per week. He died intestate in the following year (Eeg. Test., ii., 118), and it appears from the accounts of the Company, that the sum of 8s. 9d. was paide for ve berevntr of y« forsaid Eob1 Tarom. ' As the Guild was founded in 1408, its 19th year would, of course, com- mence in 1426. One of the merchant princes of Tork. He was free in 1396, chamberlain m 1409, shenfT in 1412-3, lord mayor in 1421 and 1430, and M.P. in 1422 and 1424. In June, 1427, he is described as newly mayr of ye Staple and Calyes (Corporation Records, A. y., 256). Alderman Eussell died s. p. in Dec, 1435, and was buned near his wife Petronilla, in the church of St. John in Hungate, to which he was a munificent benefactor.
