He was sent when very young to the English College of Douay ; ordained priest at the age of 26 in 1625 ; afterwards appointed procurator of the College, holding that office till 1634; founded a monastery of Canonesses of St. Augustine at Paris where he resided as their confessor till his death in 1674. Carre or Pinkney was a great friend of Richard Crashaw the poet.
