Ollier, 1818 ($24) £6/-/- Originally published as “‘ Laon and Cythna,” and printed at the latter part of 1817, but the title-page being post dated 1818. The “ Revolt of Islam”? being made up from the same sheets, with a fresh title-page and 26 cancel-leaves, the same bibliographical particulars apply, except that the pre- face, having the final paragraph cancelled, ends on page xxi, and the fly-title with quotation from Pindar bears the words “ The Revolt of Islam.” This fly-title was often omitted by binders. It probably got lost through being a leaf with a separate signature, d, coming in between two complete sheets—at that point where the Roman numerals of the preliminary matter end, so that its absence makes no obvious hiatus to be discovered by the binder. A very few copies of “‘ The Revolt of Islam ” bear the date of 1817 instead of the usual 1818 : the compositor’s error (?) being only discovered after the printing had begun. 799 SHROPSHIRE.—JAMEs (SAMUEL B.)
