    boot, and having, at the top, a band of steel shaped out to the leg a few inches above the ankle (as shown in Fig. 22). It keeps the foot in a good position, and enables the patient to tread on the flat of the foot in walking. In certain cases of deformed feet, the whole leg turns in, and sometimes crosses over the other leg. When this is the case, I continue the instrument up to the hips, making joints at the knee and hip. Figs. 23 and 24 show the feet of a young lady with and without the instrument.
