    parents. He had no opportunity of making any return to his Mother in her lifetime, but he evinced his respect for her memory, by repeatedly and urgently requesting that his experimental endowment should be commenced in the parish of her birth and burial; and he expressed great regret, when the zealous and long continued efforts of Mr. Fordyce for that object were frustrated, in consequence of his being unable to induce the clergyman of the parish, and also the proprietor, to enter into the views of himself and Dr. Milne. To his Father, however, he was enabled to make a more substantial return, having provided for his comfortable maintenance during his latter days, and having also given an annuity for life to his widow, the Stepmother of Dr. Milne. His Father was buried in the churchyard of Nether Banchory. Dr. Milne was born at Gilcomston, on 20% April, 1775.
