That Dr. Jenner juftly petitioned for a reward for the difcovery of vaccine inoculation, was the general opinion of the gentlemen examined before the Committee of the Houfe of Commons; and that if Dr. Jenner had not made and published his difcovery, vaccine inoculation had hill re¬ mained unknown. In a fubfec]uent Review, vol. XXXVI. p. 196, are the following aflerlions. 4* It is a well-known faef in many countries, when perfons had been infedfed by milking a cow, with thefe peculiar eruptions, they were in¬ capable of receiving the fmall-pox. Where then is the dihindlion ? The conftitution can receive it from touching the fores, and may of courfe re¬ ceive it from inferting the matter under the ikin.
