    speaking, swallowing, or motions of the neck of any kind, Fig. 6. were careful- ly avoided un- til the fourth day, when the pins were ta- ken out, and the patient al- lowed animal broths. Fig. 6 represents her appearance 5 weeks after the operation, and up to the present date, March 21, she continues as well as at that period—the relief afforded is therefore as per- manent as it is decided. Case III. About the 1st of January, 1S42,1 was requested to attend Charles McAllister, aged nine years, for a deformity of the mouth and throat, produced by a burn.
