![Letter from the Minister of the Interior of Holland. [Translated from tho Dutch original.] The Hague, Feb. 1, 1848. I have the honour of bringing to your knowledge, that it has pleased the King to grant you, by his decree of the 20th January, 1848, Ho. 101, a silver medal with an appropriate honorary in- scription, as a testimony of His Majesty’s high approbation for yo.ur efforts in securing to this country a supply of the most efficacious cod liver oil from Norway. I have given the necessary orders for the execution of this medal. The Minister of the Interior, (Signed) Yan der Heim. To Dr. de Jongh, at the Hague. In accordance with a communication of my honoured predecessor of the 1st February, No. 36, I have the pleasure of forwarding you the medal which the King has deigned to grant you, as a testimony of his high approbation for your efforts in securing to this country a supply of the pure cod liver oil from Norway. [Translated from the German original.] The undersigned declares that he has analysed the cod liver oil of Dr. dc Jongh, of the Hague, who has distinguished himself by his chemical and medical investigations of the properties of various kinds of fish-liver oil. This analysis has convinced him that Dr. de Jongh’s oil is not only prepared with greater care than the ordinary cod liver oil, but that it contains in larger quantities those principles which are generally admitted to be most active and essential, so that it ought to be considered the most efficacious kincl, (Signed) Dr. E.
