The wax and oil, being melted together and fuffered to grow nearly cold, are to be well incorporated with the red nitrated quickfilver, previoufly levigated. This, allowing for the omififion of twelve grains of opium and the fubftitution of lard for viper’s fat, is the mm- guentum ad lippitudinem of St. Thomas’s Hof- pital. The ufe of it is to excite healthy gra- nulations in obftinate ulcers, and as an applica- tion in chronic inflammation of the eyelids. UNGUENTUM LITHARGYRI ACETATI. R Unguenti ceras unc. j. Aquas lithargyri acetati drach. fs. mifce. This is a convenient fubflitute for the un~ guentum cervjfce acetatce of the College, which becomes rancid and unfit for ufe in a fhort time after it is made.
