The lilly-roots and figs are to be boiled and bruifed; the onions are to be afterwards added, and likewife the galbanum, previoufly rubbed with the yolk of an egg. This differs little from the old Edinburgh cataplafma fu.ppura.ns, except in the omiffion of the yellow bafilicon and oil of chamomile. The defign of it is obvious. CATAPLASMA LINI. Linfeed-poultice is made by Rirring a fuf- ficient quantity of the meal into boiling water. This is reckoned a good emollient, and is uni- verfally adopted by the hofpitals; but it is doubt- ful whether the poultice of bread and linfeed do not excel it, as there is too great an abun- dance of flimy mucilage in the linfeed alone, to anfwer, completely, thepurpofesof a relaxant.
