![[ 47 ] To the melted frankincenfe add the ladanum previoufly foftened by the fire. Next join the oil of mace, and laftly, the cinnamon with the oil of mint, and ftir them together in a warm mortar. It is neceffary to keep this plafter in a clofe vefTel on account of the volatility of part of its ingredients. Its ufe is to promote the fuppuration of inactive tumours. EMPLASTRUM LITHARGYRI. (L) R Lithargyri lib. v. Olei olivae cong. j. Thefe arc to be boiled together, with the ad- dition of a quart of water, till the oil and litharge are incorporated. It will be neceffaiy to ftir the mixture continually and to add a little boil- ing water now and then to fupply the place of that which evaporates during the procels.
