CL) In this preparation the quickfilver is re- duced to the date of a calx, by expofure to a continued heat. It is the fimplefl, yet perhaps the mod efficacious of any of the chemical preparations of quickfilver. The dofe is from half a grain to two grains every night. HYDRARGYRUS CUM CRETA. (Lj This preparation has many ftrenuous advo- cates, whilft others, of no inconfiderable au- thority, maintain that it is incapable of produ- cing any effeft whatever on the fydem. Among the latter is Dr. George Fordyce. There is fome reafon however, to allow of its efficacy in difeafes of the pro date gland. The ufual dofe is from five to ten grains every night. HYDRARGYRUS MURIATUS. fL) This is a remedy of very cxtenfive utility in furgery.
