    [ 7« ] Though both thefe appear to he altered in their properties by being mixed together, they form a compound of confrderable efficacy. The calces of lead indeed, are faid, by Dr,. George Fordyce, to produce more powerful effects when externally applied, than any other i chemical pieparation of that metal; and the ufefulnefs of this remedy may very poffibly de- pend on that principle. It is a good applica- tion for difeafed joints, and for parts bruifed,, where there is deep feated inflammation. LINIMENTUM LITHARGYRI COMPO- , SITUM. R Unguenti lithargyri cum aceto unc. fs. Camphorae gran. viij. Ceruffae acetatae gran. xvj. Opii pulverizati gran. viij. mifee. In pforophthalmy this liniment proves a very fuitable remedy. The inflamed borders of the eyelids are to be fmeared with it at bed- time. LINIMENTUM OLEOSUM. Be Olei olivte unc. ifs. Aquai calcis unc.' iij. mifee. This is one of the formulae of Guy’s, and has indeed been ufed in all the London hof- pitals, as a remedy for burns and fealds. In
