These figures show an increase of 29 in the number of births, compared with that registered during the year 1908. The annual birth-rate for Hackney for the year 1909 is therefore 24.2 per 1,000 of the population. The following table gives the number of births registered in the different sub-districts with their respective birth rates compared with those of London. It will be seen from this table that the birth rate for Hackney has declined from 29.0 per 1,000 of the population in year 1899 to 24.2 per 1,000 of the population in 1909.
