General Inspection.—Height—Weight—Diathesis—General State of Nu- trition—Conformation and Development—Attitude—Decubitus—Gestures- Expression of Face—Nature of Cry—Any other observable peculiarity. Cutaneous System.—State of Skin : Dry, Harsh, Perspiring, -So/iS—Sub- cutaneous Fat — Surface of Face, Limbs, and Body: Rounded, Plump, Eviaciated, Flabby, Wrinkled—(Edema—Eruptions—Description of Ele- ments of Skin aifected—Swellings or Nodules. Locomotary System. — Deformities and General Conditions of Bones {including Cranium and Spine), Muscles, Joints. Alimentary System.—Mouth, including Lips, Tongue, Gums, Cheeks, Tonsils, and Pharynx. Condition of Secretions, Salivary — Mucous— Diminished—Increased. Teeth—Number and Quality. Deglutition — Vomiting: .Exam'wah'ore (macroscopic and microscopic) of Ejections. Con- dition of Bowels—Frequency—Appearance of Stools : Colour, Consistence, Homogeneous or Mixed, Mucous, Bloody—Undigested Food—Worms— Microscopic Examination. Lymphatic Glandular System.—Thymus and Thyroid Glands. Note any Enlargement of Superficial or Deep Lymphatic Glands or Vessels, on Head and Neck, Trunk or Limbs. By Abdominal Palpation and Percussion, and Examination of Thoracic Cavity, obtain evidence as to possible Enlargement of Visceral Lymphatic Glands — Bronchial—Mediastinal- Mesenteric. Circulatory System. —Inspection of Praecordia. Palpation—Position and Character of Heart's Impulse. Percussion—Extent of Dulness. Ausculta- tion—Rhythm and Quality of Bounds in various Areas—Diffusion of Sounds, Anteriorly, Laterally, or Posteriorly. Pulse—Character—Rhythm—Fre- quency—Visible Pulsations in Vessels—Other Abnormal Appearances of Arteries, Capillaries, or Veins over Cutaneous Surface—Ociilar Murmurs— Cephalic Murmurs. Examine Blood — Count Corpuscles, and estimate HEemoglobin, if necessary. Respiratory System.—Inspection of Thorax—Development of Chest— Deformities. . Breathing—Movements of Thoracic Walls—Frequency—Easy or Laboured—Thoracic (adult type) or Abdominal—Movement of Nares— Snuffling. Cough—Laryngeal or Croupy—Harsh—Deep—Short—Hacking Painful, with Cry—Paroxysmal—Irregularly Intermittent—Diurnal—Noc- turnal. Sputa — Naked Eye and Microscopic Appearance.
