AutHoucH my father was the eldest son of the family, he had not had any opportunity of acquiring separate funds of his own of any amount to cover the ex- penses of his education for the ministry. He had assisted his father on the farm after completing the education of a farmer’s son at school. I never heard that he experienced any opposition from either of his parents, when he made his application and was received as a student for the ministry at Hoxton. On the other hand, his father contributed something to his pecuniary expenses, when his supplies from other sources were exhausted; but the assistance was small, and in the shape of a loan, the expenses of a numerous family no doubt preventing him from being more liberal. The principal tutor and President of the College, and Lecturer on Theology, at that time, was the Rev.
