![A circular letter (number 1153) was received from tlie Hoard of lAlucation intimating that an Order liad been made fixing the 1st April, 1920, as the appointed da\' on whic'h Section 18 of tlie h.ducation ^\('t, 1918, relating to the Medical Inspection of Children attending Secondarx’ and Continuation Schools under the contiol of the J.ocal lAlucalion Autliority, should be brought into full operation. d'his work has been commenced in three of the Secondary Schools in the Riding. SCHOOL HYGIENE. d'he Schools in the Area of the Ifast Riding education Authority arc almost entirely small village Schools, and onh' a few arc^ in towns which have a public water supplx^ and lighting. In consequence, the i)est arrangements that can be made from a sanitary }:njint of view are put into ])ractice. Actualh' 70 per cent, of the Schools have less than 100 children on the Roll. dhic Schools, with a few exceptions, are well situated away from road traffic. In a number of cases ihe Schoolhouse either adjoins the School buildings or is built within the School grounds.
