![[ 55] ~ to the Urgency, or Continuance, of the ‘Dit order. ~ Erecrarium RHEUMATICUM, An ELecTARY in a RHEUMATISM.. Take two Ounces of Conferve of Orange-Peels; an Ounce and a Half of Cinnabar of Antimo- ny levigated ; an Ounce of Gum Guaiacum in Powder; three Drams of Winters-bark powdered ; and, with a fufficient Quantity of - Syrup of Orange-Peels, make an Eledtary. As the Cinnabar and Gum are of the Clafs of powerful Attenuants, and plentifully’ promote natural Perfpiration, this Electary is very ratio- nally directed in Rheumatic Pains; where ftill fubfifts an Obftruction of the Pores, and the Blood, from too great a Sizinefs, being flugcifh in its Circulation, diftends the Veffels, and caufes thofe uneafy Mufcular Senfations. But, in thefe Difeafes, attended with any Degree of Inflammation, it would be very injudicious to order a Medicine of this Kind; as it would be adding Heat to Heat in Contradi@ion to the very firft Elements of Phyfick, and funda- mental Axioms of Practice.
