IV.) actions against Queen Caroline, then agitating the whole press of the country against the King. Shackell was appointed nominal Editor, but Theodore Hook was the real director and princi- pal contributor, he being proposed for that position by Sir Walter Scott. Only 750 copies were printed of the first number, but in its sixth week the circulation rose to 10,000. .
