[16— 17—] MISSALE AD USUM PARISIENSEM, cum Calendario, MANUSCRIPT ON VEL- LUM (295 Ul. 104 by 7 in.) written in neat gothic characters in double columns of 35 lines, in red and black with musical notes, by an Anglo- French scribe and illuminator ; the Calendar, written in red and black, has fine illuminated ornamental initials, with each of which ts connected. a three-quarter border of spiked ivy leaves; in the teat are 42 borders of a similar character to the above connected with fine illuminated ornamental initials in pink and blue relieved with white ; 18 of these bordered pages contain exquisite small miniatures, chiefly: 2in. square [see PLATE), with backgrounds either of small diapers of blue or pink and gold, or a filigree or trellis pattern in gold on a blue or pink ground ; birds, beasts, jigures and grotesques are interspersed in the borders in which the minia- tures occur ; modern bright French red morocco gilt, gilt and gauffred edges, in new open cloth lined case, FROM THE DIDOT COLLECTION sm. folio.
