![% Interviews in office.—20 interviews between Hiidwives and the Assistant Inspector of AJidwives took place durinp the year. Cases of puerperal fever and puerperal pyrexia in practice of midwives.—14 visits were made to 12 cases of puerperal fever and puerperal pyrexia. Cases requiring medical help.—521 cases were notified by midwives in which medical aid had been called in, as against 020 last year. 4<jl visits were inade regarding cases requiring medical hel]>. Notifications received from midwives.—‘10 cases of stillbirths were notified; 18 cases were notified of infants receiving artificial feeding; 7 cases were notified iu which a death had occurred in the ju’actice of a midwife; 0 intimatioiis of having laid out dead bodies were received. Supply of silver nitrate to midwives.—Supplies of a colloid preparation of silver nitrate are issued to midwi\es at cost i*rice. No request was made for this during the year. Ophthalmia neonartorum.—12 cases were notified during the year. HOME VISITING OE EXPECTANT ^lOTHPES, MOTHEPS, AND YOUNG CHILDEEN Home visiting.—The following is a summary of the visits })aid by the health nurses in connection with expectant mothers, mothers, and young children: — 2341 routine first visits were })aid to infants. 3761 routine revisits were paid to infants under 1 year. 9734 routine visits were paid to cliildren over 1 year and under 5 years old. 24 first visits and 1 revisit were ])aid in connection with the investigation of stillbirths. 9 cases of ophthalmia neonatorum were visited and kept under supervision. 215 first visits were paid to expectant mothers. 41 revisits were paid to ex])ectant mothers.
