![9 ]hom A. W. Russell, M.B., Medical Stipermtendent, Western Infirmary, Glasgozv. Glasgow, March^ 1886. I MAVi': much pleasure in recommending the application of Dr. H. Rutiierfurd to the consideration of the Managers of the Greenock Infirmary. Dr. Rutherfurd was one of our Resident Surgeons during the winter of 1884-85, and was afterwards a Resident Phy- sician during the following six months, having charge of Professor Gairdner’s wards. He also for three months attended the patients of the Erysipelas house. Having fully availed himself of the experience to be gained in these various departments, an experience to which he must have considerably added by a visit during this winter to the special cliniques at Vienna, he is, I am sure, well fitted to discharge the duties of the post for which he now applies.
