![fhould greatly anger, was I to fpeak of half the particulars of his Goodnefs, with whom I liv'd Ibme time, and was entertain'd with the utmoft humanity and compaffion, befides many other proofs of his lafting Goodnefs, by fome known to this day, and my filent Gratitude is only known to the Searcher of Hearts. After my return to London, I lodg'd upon Tower-Hill, and receiv'd fome friend- fhips from my Brother-in-law Mr. Chejhire, which I gratefully regard, who alfo recommended me to fome pra&ice, and where I contrafted an Acquain¬ tance with many Gentlemen of the Army, from whom I receiv'd more Adds of Friendfhip, than I could have expedited; but the ill nature and malice of my good Father-in-law, and hisConfort &V, know¬ ing I was pretty often at his Son Chejhire*s, and finding I pick'd up a final], the' an uncomfortable living, infilled that his Son Chejhire Ihould forbid me coming to his Houle, which Mr. Chejhire was forc'd unwillingly to comply with: Such was the malice of this good Father-in-law, that I was forc'd to fhift my Quarters, to the Stone-KJtchen in the Lower, where I was moft kindly treated : But ftiil this was an unhappy fettl'd Life; I, in one Lodging, my good Wife, in another, and my Chil¬ dren, at the Parifh; altogether almoft depriv'd me of my Senfes, for my little narrow Way of Bufi- nels was fcarcely fufficient to keep me in a State of Exiftence, much lefs to pay for my Childrens Board; and my Wife’s Relations, not being will¬ ing to contribute one Farthing to fave them from the Parifh.
