No disease has produced a greater mortality in our Colo- nies, or has been so little understood by medical men, as the one in question. The Author, in the former part of his work, has pointcd ont the real nature of the disease, by proving that it is not constantly résident in the West Indies, or in Spain; that it is not generated by marsh exhalations, or the beat of the climate; but, that it is produced by a spécifie contagion, and like Small-pox, Measles, &c. affects the human frame but once.
