![TUBERCULOSIS. T.P. Twomev. ii.B,, B.Ch., D.P.H., D.ii.R.E., Clinical Tuberculosis Officer. NOTIFICATIONS. The total notifications during 1944 numbered 119, and *f thesa W were pulmonary, and 31 non-pulmonary. Compared with the previous year,these figures show an increase of 4 pulmonary,and a decrease of 1 non-pulmonary notifications. In spite of five years of war, it is gratifying to record that there has been no increase in the incidonce of either pulmonary,or non-pulmonary,Tuberculosis in the Borough,as shown by the following Table:- Year. The number *f deaths from all farms #f tuberculosis was 55,as compared with 78 in the previous year. PUBLIC HEALTH (PREVENTION QF TUBERCULOSIS) REGULATIONS 1925. No occasion arose during the year when it was considered necessary to enforce these Regulations. PUBLIC HEALTH (TUBERCULGSIS) REGULATIONS 194C. Information was sent to the Minister #f Labour and National Service respecting patients on the Tuberculosis Register,by the Medical Officer of Health,in compliance with these Regulations. TUBERCULOSIS CLINIC. The number sfsessions,and the hours tf same,remained the same throughout the year, as during the April to October period of the previous war years,namely,two afternoon and ene evening session per week. The attendances numbered 2,281,a decrease if 51 en the previous year. At the Clinic,contact is maintained with known cases of Tuberculosis and a close check kept on their progressed new patients are first interviewed and examined here, unless unfit to attend. Wherever possible,both new and old cases are seen by appointment so as to avoid undue waiting. As in previous years,a number *f patients who were discharged from the Sanatorium prior to the completion of a course of Gold treatment,had it completed at the Clinic,and 2 patients attended regularly for Tuberculin injections, NEW PATIENTS. During the year 387 new cases were examined,and of these 93 were considered to be tuberculous; 293 non-tubercuLcus; whi le in 1 case the diagnosis was not completed at the year end. As former ly,diagnosis was based on clinica l,radio logica L,and bacteriological examinations. The practice of keeping in touch with the patient's private practitioner was continued. Following the completion of initial investigations a report on the clinical, radiologica l,and bacteriological findings was forwarded,and als* a full report following discharge from the Sanatoriurn,after treatment,or a period of observation. Among the new cases examined at the Clinic,there were 47 referred from the Military Medical Board,and 4 from the Ministry if National Service, A total ef 961 patients attended the Bradley Wood Sanatorium for X-ray and examination. / CONTACTS. The immediate family contacts to cases of pulmonary Tuberculosis examined during the year numbered 51 adults and 40 children; 24 #f these were X-rayed.
