Dr Letheby states the amount so required at 4 oz. nitro- healthy adult, mous; 12 oz. carboniferous; and 16 oz. total solid nutriment per ty. This is probably a theoretical estimate, based on the chemistry id physiology of food in the abstract. Subjoined are 2 careful esti- tates apparently of a more practical character, representing the actual rerage daily consumpt by the healthy male adult. Their mean gives l round numbers 3^ oz. nitrogenous; 15^ oz. carboniferous; and 19 z. total solid nutriment.
