![The Board of Governors of The Society of the Lying- In Hospital submits herewith its report for the 131st fiscal year of the Society, ending December 31, 1929. While the amount of the maternity service rendered by the doctors and nurses is a little less than in the preceding years, the high standard of efficiency which has always characterized this service has been admirably maintained. The reasons for this slight diminution in the demand for such service are set forth in the report of the Chief Surgeon. As he shows, the educational work of the Hospital has diminished neither in amount nor quality. The Governors again gratefully acknowl¬ edge all that has been accomplished by the members of the medical and hospital staffs. To these devoted workers we are indebted for the admirable results recorded. The Chief Surgeon sets forth our obligation in this regard, but the Governors wish to emphasize the able and devoted accomplishment of the Chief Surgeon himself. His wise and guiding influence is seen in all that the institution has accomplished. The activities of the Ladies’ Auxiliary have continued as efficiently and successfully as ever. Their con¬ tinued participation in this essential branch of the Hospital’s operations is highly appreciated by the Governors.
