    of one of their ingredients, namely. Spirit—in various Chronical diforders attended or pro- duced by weaknefs of the organs of digeftion, viz. in Dropfies, Indurated Abdominal Vifcera, &c.—in the Hyfteria, attended by failure of the appetite for food. Flatulency and Acidity in the Stomach, in which the Tinfture of this medicine was remarkably agreeable, and would fometimes remain in the ftomach when every thing elfe had been reje&ed by vomiting;—and in the convalef- cent Hate after Fevers, when the appetite had not returned. In all thefe diforders of the ftomach I have found no vegetable bitter fo ferviceable as the Anguftura Bark, but I have frequently thought it more efficacious in thofe cafes which required a very long ufe of it, not to exhibit it for more than three or four weeks together, but then to difcontinue this bitter, and to pre- fcribe a Tonic of a totally different nature, fuch as the Metallic Subfiances; and of thefe I have found no preparation better than the Solution of Iron in the Marine, or Vitriolic Aether.
