' Take of Elicampane-roofs three Drams : Sfani-fh-Tobacco one Dram: infu/e them-a whole Night infix Ounces of Aqua-vii<z : in the Morning firain them, and add of the left Sugar four Ounces ; ftir it wellupon the fire, and add of the Syrup of Eryfmtm or Coltsfoot two Ounces : OyJ of Sulphur as much •as will make it-fharp : make a Lohoch. Thefe following are proper to unfluff and dear the Lungs, f. Take of Ammoniacum, Bdellium diff olved in the f^inegar of Squills, of each half an Ounce : Flower of Brim ft one three Drams: the Leaves of Coltsfoot and dried Savory powdred, Diaireos fimple, of each half a Dram : with Syrup of Hyfop and Oxymel of Squills make a maft of Pillsof a Dram whereof ■make fix Pills ■, and let- him take three^ of them two hours before Supper twice in a week. -.T^akc of Aloes Succatrine half an Ounce : Aiyrrh and Ammoniacum, of each half a Dram : Saf¬ fron half a Scruple : Flower of Briviftone half a Dram : with the Syrup of Coltsfoot make a mafs of Pills, of which let him take a Dram two hours afore Dinner for f me days. Quercetan preferibed in his Difpenfatory, is of tfie fame vertue,. -• * - The Tinduve of dry Tobacco is drawn with Aqua-vitse, a little thereof mixed with Honeyand tliatheld in the Mouth as big as a Peafe or Bean| fwallowing it by degrees, this draws Flegm in abun¬ dance from the Stomach and Lungs, ' : ■ i'-Hogs-lice^called Millepedes or Afelli, in number twelve, put into a linneii-cloth, are to be fteept in White*wine, and then Brained and fo given to be drunk, and do in a fhort time cleanfe the Lungs. ^vOleum Sacchari doth powerfully diflblve thick glutinous Humors in the Lungs, and caufeth expe- doration; but the Compound Oyl following is the heft. '^Take of the Roots of Flowerdeluce and Elicampane powdred, of each half an Ounce : the Pulpecf DUtes and Raifins, of each three Drams: Citron and Orange-perils, of each one Dram and an half : Reri]amin two'Drams : Saffron one Dram : infufe them two days in the fpirit of JPine well rectified : then take of the liquor by inclination, dijfolve as much Sugar-Candy powdred as you ccin therein, then fire the fpirit of Wine (birring them continually tilt it comes to a liquor as thick as Oyl, thin mix 'as much Oyl of- Sulphur as will Jharpen it. A Decodion of red Coleworts taken many days vvith a little Sugar, doth help the Afthma. ^But the juyee of red Coleworts vvith Sugar of Rofes or Syrup of Coltsfoot, taken in form of a Ju¬ lep for many days is better.
