If the time of the fature fit be certain and fixt, the purge is to be taken eight or ten daje* before. Or it pevadveiiture it let upon n man on a fudden ; at the very beginning of the fit he » muft be fttongly purged, that the matter which flows in may be rooted out, before it fatten it felf into the Lung*; and if one Purge cannot do the deed, another mutt aho be given, tili the vvhole defluxion be looted up and flopped. Every morning your head muft be dried and rub¬ bed, either with rough Linnen Cloths, or fometimes with futh bags as follow. Take Annis-feed-yF ennel and Cummin-feed?of each two ounces ; Bayberries bruifed one ornee? Millet any vound? Common fait half a pound ; Fry them in a Frying-pan,then put them jirefcntly in a bag, wherewith your Head mvft be rubbed hot. After the rubbing of your head, let flegm and fnivei be every morning drawn out of your Noftrils, and with the vulgar and common medicaments uted to that end. Sometimes ycu tnuft move neezing, that a revulfion to your Noftrils may be made of fuch humors as are wont to fall into your Throat and Lungs. You mufl ufe moderate recreation, efpecinlly in the morning, and before Supper, or at leafl inflead of Exercife, hard and rough fri&ions of your body are to be ufed. Let afternoons fleep be avoided, and fleep but little in the night. Lie never on your back, but only on one fide, that the excrements of your brain fall not into your throat and wind-pides, but may run to your Noftrils. Shun the Air when it is moift and cold, cloath your head well in the Winter, that it may not feel the Injuries of cold. Alfo your head $nay be fmoaked with odoriferous materials, hot, dry and ftrengthening, as Nigella Romana, Storax, Benzoin, Amber and Rofes. Thefe few precepts therefore of regulating your felf mufl be obferved after your cure all your life long, that you may not fo clifily flip into this Difeafe again, whereunto you have been accuftomed. And now I come to the properand peculiar Cure, which by the help of medicaments, may remedy thevitious conftitutior. of your body. To this Intent you muft chute a time between your fits, when being delivered from one, you did not fear to fill immediately into another: and this time of Cure ought to be about thirty daies. In the firft place therefore, the former courfc of life being undertaken and pun&ually obferved, your belly muft be loofened with a Clyftev of an emollient Deception, with Hiera- picra Ample and Diaphamicon, each one ounce. Honey of Rofes and Rofe-mary, of each one ounce : Oyl of Anms-feed three ounces. The day after purge with that potion which I be¬ fore defer jSed, After that, the remaining humors muft be purged with this Apozem. Take Polypody of the Oaf, Carthamns feeds? Roots of E/icampane and Fennel? Rat fins clean- fed, of each half an ounce • Savin, Betony? Stachados? Hyjfop? Savory? Colts-Foot, Thjme? of each one handful: Seeds cf Annis? Marfh-mallows and Coiton?and of Liquor U? each two drams. Make an Apozem for four Dofes? clarified and aromatized? with a dr am of choice Cinnamon• Let him take it twice a day? two hours before meals. This Apozem muft be continued five or fix daies, and in the mean time if your belly be bound Joofen it with a Clyfter. And atlaft purge again, either by potion or by pils; Now fuch a potion as this will be exceeding good, being fitted both for the Head and Lungs. Take Polypody of the Oaf? Carthamus feed? E lie amp ane Roots? clean] ed Raifms, Senna, of each three drams. Make a decottion for one dofe ; in the framed Liquor, infufe Agaricf tro¬ chi shed one dram and half. In the expreffion?diffolvc Diaphanicon two drams Syrup of Hy/fop. hbkan ounce. Make it into a potion? take it failing four hours iefore meat. When by thefe Medicaments,and a fparing courfeof Diet,he Hull appear fufticiendy emp¬ tied ; Remedies proper to the head may be then feafonably applied. Being therefore polled to the skin every morning, and an hour before Supper , it muft be rubbed with fuch bags as I for¬ merly defetibed exceeding hot, and they muft be endured till your whole head feel hot: and then if it may not feem troublefome,it will be very good for you to ufe the decoclioo of Guaja- cum for eight daies. And that is to be took in the morning,and three hours before Supper; and when by '.force thereof you find your felf to fweat, then the bags very hot may moft feafonably be applied to your Head. Your fweat being wiped off before you take meatflet the Snivel and Rheume be drawn out of your head after this manner.
