Saxifrage, of each one handful; Seeds of Marjl-AIallows and Gotten, and lhaved Liya,- ns, each three draws ; Make a Decoction to a first and half. In the [trained Li a nor, dijfolve nine ounces of white Sugar, and four ounces of the left Floncy. Alike of all a Syrup well boiled, and -Aromatized with Florentine Orris and Cinnamsn, each two drams. Let him take thereof frequently in a fpoon in manner of a Lick-Pot, and femetimes ming¬ led with Barley-water. ’ ° Item, Take of the powder of Fleti vary Diatragacanthim Frigidum, Diair eos [imple, each two drams; Aromaticum Rofatum me dram and half: Seed: of Far fly of Macedonia, Saxi¬ frage and BaflLeach half a dram ; white Sugar dijfoived in Pellitory water four ounces. Boy l them in Bean-water for a Fomentation : Then lay on the Rupture-Plaifter mixed with the former powders. Such fmaller matters as I mention not, may be gathered ont of the Counfels and Writings of others. 1 - beginning. Seeing not onely the Head or Womb alone, but all the Body befides is grievouily afte£ed, 'badly nourifhed,dead and ugly coloured ; all the joynts are loofe and languiflaing, and not able to perform their Office .* and the Patient is exceeding weak,frequently fainting away,with fihortnefs of breath, efpecially when her body is more than ordinavi lyffirred: the fick Gentle¬ woman feems to be affected as thofe are that are going into a Cachexy, or are Leucophlegma- tick. And therefore the caufe of all thefe infirmities muff be fought not in her head or womb, but in the principal bowels,efpecially in the natural, as the Aomach,liver,fpleen,and adjacent parts,by whofe help the whole body is wont to be nouvifhed. Thefe therefore are very impure, and full of fupevfluous humors ; by whofe lllnefs and impurity, all meat be it never fo good is corrupted,whereby this variety of Symptoms is caufed. In fo great Impurity of the bowels, ob- flru£I ions are much to be fufpe6ted,and obfervation muff be made, whether her midriff or parts about her belly be not fwoln, pained or hard.
